The Zen Den in Gaia’s Garden
Eco•Farm & Orchard
Deep bow & warm hug! Welcome to our humble homestead blog. Here we share our life’s work & passions; mindful living, conscious parenting, & eco-farming. Situated on 40 acres of pure North Michigan bliss, Gaia’s Garden is home to over 30 fruit trees & native flora, sprawling gardens, honey bees, chickens, & wooly sheep (coming soon!). We honor the Earth & her inhabitants and choose farming practices that align with our vision, including organic permaculture growing practices, and cruelty-free relationships with our winged & four legged friends. Join us as we explore the joys of simple living and heart expansion. Have some tea and get cozy with us!
Meet The Founder •
Nakoma is an indigenous homeschooling mom, certified Herbalist, Artist, Kundalini Yoga Instructor, Bioenergy Practitioner, Queen of The Zen Den, and mother of Gaia’s Garden. Her background in ecological biodiversity and fine arts merge to create her vision of large-scale edible forests, tenderly cared for and brimming with interactive sculptures for meditation and connection with nature.
“My dream is to recreate a sort of Eden - a natural paradise that Earth is eager to create with us. This includes mutually respectful relationships between the flora, fauna, and “mxn”. As stewards of Earth, it’s our calling to protect and preside over the land and her children. Living in harmony with nature, instead of ownership/superiority mentality, is key to building an appreciation and reverence for this ecological body that we’re influential members of. Returning to simpler ways of living brings us closer to our hOMe & hearts.”
In her play time, Mother Woods enjoys reading, writing, dancing, cooking, creating music, and being fully present with her sons.
